Arts & Crafts

Toddler Program

A specially crafted program that allows families to learn alongside their child.

Colorful Alphabets

Preschool Program

A fun and engaging program with structured themes that helps prepare children for a successful start to school.

Toddler Program

Our 45-minute toddler sessions are designed to gently introduce early literacy and numeracy skills while supporting language development in a fun, nurturing environment.

Each session is filled with songs, rhymes, stories, crafts, movement, and sensory play—all carefully chosen to engage young minds and build strong neural connections through repeated and joyful learning experiences.

One of the unique strengths of this program is the support it offers to parents and caregivers. Through guided modelling, clear explanations of each activity's learning purpose and practical ideas to try at home, parents learn alongside their toddler and gain confidence in supporting their child’s development.

Each session includes:

  • Songs & rhymes

  • Shared stories

  • Creative craft activities

  • Fine motor tasks

  • Oral language development

  • Sensory play

  • Movement and gross motor play

Every activity is designed with a specific learning focus, helping toddlers explore new concepts and develop foundational skills in a playful, age-appropriate way.

Each week, a new letter and sound is introduced and explicitly taught. Numeracy concepts such as counting, number recognition, patterns, and shapes are seamlessly woven into each session.

Children will receive:

  • A personally named learning journal and satchel to collect and store weekly work

  • Custom ‘name plates’ to help recognise, read, and begin writing their name

  • Weekly resources and simple home activities to reinforce learning between sessions

This program lays the groundwork for future success in literacy and numeracy, while fostering curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Preschool Program

The transition into school can be an anxious time for children and families. The Learning Buds preschool program is designed to ease that uncertainty by providing a structured, engaging and supportive environment that prepares children for school in a joyful and meaningful way.

Children are encouraged to explore, experiment and make learning discoveries while building the foundational skills needed for a confident start to school.

The program focuses on six key learning areas:

  • Pre-Reading Skills: Letter-sound recognition (with cued articulation), rhyming, print awareness and vocabulary building

  • Pre-Writing Skills: Hand strength, pencil control, correct grip and letter formation using Victorian Cursive Script

  • Numeracy Skills: Understanding numbers, shapes, measurement and spatial concepts

  • Language Skills: Developing oral language, vocabulary, comprehension and listening skills

  • Thinking Skills: Concentration, problem-solving and following instructions

  • Social & Emotional Skills: Confidence, persistence, independence and organisation

What Your Child Will Receive:

  • A personally named learning journal and satchel to keep all weekly work

  • Custom ‘name plates’ to help recognise, read and write their name

  • Access to Little Learners Love Literacy decodable readers

  • ‘Heart words’ to keep — words children learn by memory at this stage

  • A weekly session outline with simple, fun tasks to support learning at home

Parent Involvement

Parent attendance is not required during sessions. However, families are kept closely informed through weekly overviews and practical strategies that encourage and extend learning at home.

At Learning Buds, we aim to motivate and encourage every child to achieve their personal best while fostering a love of learning that lasts well beyond the classroom.

Milo the monkey

At Learning Buds, we know that young children learn best when they’re having fun. That’s why our literacy program features Milo the Monkey and his friends, part of the evidence-based Little Learners Love Literacy program. Each week, your child will meet one of Milo’s friends – like Sally the Snake or Ally the Alligator – who introduces a new letter and sound in a playful, engaging way. These lovable characters help children build strong early reading, spelling, and writing skills while keeping them excited about learning.Parents love seeing their child come home eager to share which new 'friend' Milo invited to the party! To learn more about the program, visit Learning Logic.

Rainbow writing

Rainbow Writing is a favourite at Learning Buds, helping children learn correct letter formation in a fun, colourful way. Using bright crayons or markers, they trace over the letter of the day to create a rainbow effect—reinforcing the correct starting position and shape through repetition. We also support children in developing the correct pencil grip using our specialised pencil grips, helping build strength, control, and good habits early on.This engaging activity not only builds early handwriting skills but also boosts confidence and fine motor development in a way children truly enjoy.

Super Spelling

Once children have been introduced to a set of 8 initial sounds through our literacy program, we begin to bring those sounds together in a fun and purposeful way through our Super Spelling sessions.Super Spelling helps children apply what they’ve learned by using those sounds to begin spelling and reading simple words. This is where the magic happens—when children realise they can use sounds to build words, their confidence soars! Each session focuses on strengthening phonemic awareness, a vital early reading skill. Children learn to segment (break words into individual sounds) and blend (combine those sounds to read or spell words). These foundational skills are taught through engaging, hands-on activities that make learning feel fun and achievable.Super Spelling gives children the tools and confidence they need to become capable, enthusiastic early readers.
